WELCOME TO KENNETT BLUE DEMONS ICE HOCKEY

The mission of Kennett Blue Demons Ice Hockey is to provide a fun, safe, and positive environment devoted to promoting educational and competitive ice hockey programs for athletes in Kennett Middle School and Kennett High School. We seek to develop each player to the best of their ability and promote a spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork with players, coaches, and parents/guardians.

Ice hockey is different than many other school sports because ice hockey is not regulated by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA).  Youth hockey is regulated by USA Hockey, which is the sport's national governing organization and the Atlantic District, which is the local USA Hockey affiliate that covers Southeastern PA (as well as DE and NJ).  The Atlantic District is responsible for sanctioning league and tournament play within their district.  The Middle School team plays in the Ice Line Middle School League and plays against teams from neighboring school districts.  High School hockey is organized by the the Inter County Scholastic Hockey League (ICSHL).  The teams in this league are open to student athletes in the Kennett Consolidated School District.  The teams are sponsored and funded by a non-profit parent-led organization, not the Kennett Consolidated School District.

At Kennett Blue Demons Ice Hockey, we ensure that every athlete has the opportunity to improve as a player through the practice of skills, techniques, and strategies, and provide Kennett students with the opportunity to compete in games at a level that is commensurate with their skill level.  We work hard to make sure everyone has fun and feels like an important part of the team. We are committed to creating a positive atmosphere in which coaches, parents, and players work together to enjoy the game of Ice Hockey.

We are members of USA Hockey and the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) - Atlantic Division

Equipment

Safety is of utmost importance to our organization and each player will need to provide his or her own equipment.  All equipment must be designed for ice hockey, not inline or street hockey. Goalie equipment is specific and varies from this list. This includes, but is not limited to: hockey stick, ice hockey skates, hockey helmet with full cage, hockey shoulder pads, hockey gloves, hockey elbow pads, neck guard, mouth guard, hockey shin guards, hockey personal protective gear, and hockey pants, as well as home and away jerseys, shells, and hockey socks.

It is up to parents/guardians to ensure their player is using equipment that meets current safety standards. This link is a helpful resource for Ice Hockey equipment. https://www.purehockey.com/c/youth-hockey-gear-guide-a-checklist-for-parents

Coaching

All Kennett Blue Demons Ice Hockey coaches volunteer their personal time to make this program a huge success and we are always looking for volunteers.  Coaching Kennett Blue Demons Ice Hockey is a great way to support families and youth in the Kennett community. Coaches teach more than sport specific skills - they help our young athletes develop important life skills.  As a coach, you can have a positive influence on parents and players, as well as be an excellent example of community support and pride.
